Can I Choose My Own Hours as an In-Home Childcare Carer in Australia?

Yes. In-home childcare work lets you set your own availability. Here is how that works in practice and what it means for how your week is structured.

One of the most significant differences between centre-based work and in-home childcare work is control over your schedule. Centre employment means roster shifts determined by room ratios and director decisions. In-home carer work means you set your availability and the platform matches you to families who fit it.

How availability works on the Nest and Nurture Little Ones platform

When you join as an approved carer, you set the days you are available, the hours on each day, and the suburbs you are willing to travel to. You are never offered a booking outside your set parameters.

Can I work part-time?

Yes. Many carers work two or three days per week with one or two families. Others build a full week across multiple families. The platform does not require a minimum number of hours or bookings.

You are not fitted into a roster. Families are matched to your availability, not the other way around.

What happens when a family requests you

A family sends an interview request. You meet them online, ask your own questions, and decide whether the match is right for you. You are not required to accept every interview or booking.

When pay goes out

Every Wednesday. Clock in and out on the platform for each session. Pay for all completed and verified sessions from the prior week is released automatically.
