Safety is the first question every parent asks about in-home childcare, and it should be. Inviting someone into your home to care for your child is one of the biggest trusts you will ever extend. So rather than ask you to take it on faith, here is the full list of what every Nest and Nurture Little Ones carer must hold and clear before they can be matched to a single family.
What every carer must have
- A current Working With Children Check - non-negotiable and verified, not just claimed
- A minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
- Child-specific first aid certification (HLTAID012)
- A national police check
- Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccination
- A minimum of two years of verified childcare experience
Verified, not self-reported
The important word throughout that list is verified. Anyone can write qualifications on a profile. We check the documents behind them before a carer is ever visible to families - the WWCC, the certificate, the first aid, the police check. A carer who cannot produce valid documentation does not get listed.
You stay in control of the match
Vetting gets a carer onto the platform. It does not decide who cares for your child - you do. Families review a carer's profile, request an interview, and meet them before anything is confirmed. You decide whether the person is right for your family. Nobody is placed in your home that you have not chosen.
One consistent, known adult
There is a quieter safety benefit to in-home care that is easy to overlook: consistency. Your child is cared for by one known adult in their own home, not a rotating roster of staff in a large centre. Over time that carer learns your child's routines, cues and needs - and you build a real relationship with the person looking after them.
The vetting never stops mattering
Checks like the Working With Children Check have expiry dates, and we hold carers to keeping them current. An expired check means an inactive listing until it is renewed and re-verified.
