Home organising is a different job from cleaning -- decluttering, sorting and setting up systems that actually get used, not surface cleaning -- and it is priced differently too.
What organisers earn and charge in Australia
Payscale puts the average hourly pay for a Professional Organizer in Australia at about $50 in 2026, with a wide range of $25 to $81 depending on experience. On the client-facing side, Airtasker’s marketplace data shows a median posted price of $110 for a home organising task in Sydney and $120 in Melbourne, with a Queensland listing citing $45 per hour for more straightforward jobs. Whole-home projects are priced well above hourly work -- Airtasker’s cost guide lists $250 to $700 for a garage or storage room and $800 to $1,500 or more for a full home.
Why organising pays more than cleaning per hour
Organising calls for a different skill set: judgement on what to keep, sorting at speed, and designing a storage system a household will actually maintain after you leave. That skill, not physical cleaning effort, is what the higher rate reflects.
What Nest and Nurture Society organisers take home
- Home organising: $80/hr minimum, the highest-paying work on the system
- Jobs range from a 2.5 hour quick reset to a two-day whole home transformation
- Flat $20/hr fee, never a percentage, paid every Wednesday
What you need to apply
You need an ABN, a current police check, public liability insurance and transport, the same as any role on the system. Organising rewards a genuine knack for systems and decision-making, with or without cleaning experience.
