Why Brisbane pays more — and why most cleaners still see less

Brisbane has some of the fastest-growing residential cleaning rates in Australia. Clients in the inner city, riverside eastern suburbs and premium northside pay well because they want trust, consistency and a high standard. The market is there. The problem is the structure most cleaners work under.

A cleaning agency that takes a percentage of every job keeps more of the money as the job gets bigger. On a 400 dollar booking at a 30 percent cut, you see 280. On a 600 dollar same-day clean, you see 420. The agency wins every time the job gets bigger. Nest and Nurture Society keeps a flat 20 dollars per hour, full stop. On that same 600 dollar same-day clean, you keep 500.

What cleaners take home in Brisbane

The cleaning work in Brisbane

Inner city apartment and short-stay cleaning

New Farm, Teneriffe, Fortitude Valley and Kangaroo Point have a dense mix of riverside apartments and short-stay listings. Recurring apartment cleans and Airbnb turnovers are both strong here, and the upside on every higher-rate job goes to the cleaner.

Southside share-house and Queenslander cleaning

West End, Highgate Hill, South Brisbane and Woolloongabba are densely populated with students, young professionals and character homes. Vacate and end-of-lease cleans are common alongside recurring maintenance work.

Eastside riverside and family cleaning

Bulimba, Hawthorne, Balmoral and Norman Park mix riverside apartments with established family Queenslanders. Consistent, local, recurring work with low travel time between jobs.

Northside premium family homes

Ascot, Hamilton, Clayfield and Albion have a high concentration of large family homes with owners who value presentation and reliability over price. Premium maintenance cleans and deep resets are the strongest work in this zone.

Same-day and priority cleans across Brisbane

Brisbane has high demand for same-day and short-notice cleans — vacate cleans, pre-sale cleans and urgent residential resets. These jobs charge out at a premium rate and the full uplift goes to the cleaner because the fee stays flat at 20 dollars per hour regardless of the job rate.

How the pay system works

Every job on the Nest and Nurture Society system has a full booking price that the cleaner sees before accepting. We take a flat 20 dollars per hour. Everything else is the cleaner's. There are no percentage deductions, no hidden platform fees and no surprises at pay time.

  • +You see the full booking price before accepting any job.
  • +The business keeps a flat 20 dollars per hour. You keep everything else.
  • +Same-day and priority cleans charge out higher. The extra goes straight to you.
  • +Pay every Wednesday, no 30-day wait.
  • +No chasing clients. Customers pay before the job starts.

What you need to apply

This is experienced work. To apply as a Standard cleaner you need genuine cleaning experience, an ABN, a current police check, public liability insurance, a car and a smartphone.

The Family Certified track adds a Working With Children Check (Blue Card) and a current whooping cough booster. It unlocks postpartum and family-home work — the highest-paying jobs on the system — and demand for it is strong across Brisbane's family suburbs.
